Export Development Board (EDB) recently held the National Consultative Forum on the Strategic Export Development Roadmap 2026-2030 at its head office.
As the nation’s premier export promotion organization, the EDB is currently formulating the National Export Development Plan to guide Sri Lanka’s export-led economic transformation over the next five years. The objective of the forum was to create awareness among senior government officials about these initiatives and to actively seek collaboration from stakeholders across various sectors to achieve national economic goals & to achieve US$ 36 billion export revenue by 2030.
EDB Chairman and CEO Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe delivered the welcome address and presented the National Export Roadmap, outlining strategic priorities for the coming years. The Governor of the Central Bank Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe provided valuable insights to senior government officials on Sri Lanka’s broader economic roadmap.
Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, and Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development shared valuable insights & the border economic perspectives of the Government, highlighting the need for a whole-of- Government approach to transform the national export eco system. They further emphasized that strong institutional partnerships and coordination are essential for driving sustainable growth in the export sector and the broader economy.
The official launch of the Export Performance Indicator, a data-driven tool designed to support informed decision-making by businesses and institutions across both public and private sectors, also took place during the event.
Alongside the program, awareness about Sri Lanka Expo 2026 international exhibition was also created. The country’s premier international trade exhibition is scheduled to be held from June 18-21, 2026, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo. This flagship event will showcase Sri Lanka’s export potential, investment opportunities, and cultural diversity to a global audience.
Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to H.E. the President on Digital Economy, and more than 150 senior government officials/heads of public institutions, participated in the forum.
